Course Description: This course is designed to review methods, tips, and tools for learning how to count carbohydrates through review of: meal planning, benefits of carbohydrate counting, major nutrient types, differentiation of carbohydrate food sources, how to estimate carbohydrate amounts, and reading nutrition labels to measure/determine carbohydrate servings, amounts, and portion sizes. Sample breakfast, lunch, supper meals, and snacks with associated meal tickets are included as practice exercises. And a Post-Test will be completed upon finishing the presentation to measure understanding of course objectives.

Target Audience: Nurses, Dietitians and any other interested healthcare providers
Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to: Define Carbohydrate Counting, Name 2 benefits of carbohydrate counting, Identify 5 foods classified as carbohydrates, Read food nutrition labels for serving size, servings per container, and amount of carbohydrate per serving, calculate carbohydrate count in grams and servings in sample meal plans/exercises.
