Course Description: This course will identify assist the healthcare worker to gain strategies and exercise to protect the back.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
• Discuss the scope of back pain in the healthcare profession.
• Identify contributing factors (internal and external) to back injury
• List all the components of the “core” and how to strengthen each
• Identify the differences between primary and secondary preventative measures
• Identify ergonomic components of patient transfers, with and without equipment
• Engage in a 5-minute work out designed to strengthen the healthcare professional in preparation for transfers
Instructional Method: Asynchronous online PPT Lecture/Videos and live demonstration with prop/Pre Test/Post Test
Length of Course: 60 minutes
Licensed Nurses: Upstate AHEC is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
