Course Description: This course will explores the public health phenomenon of Human Trafficking. The presenter will discuss what human trafficking is opposed to what it is not. An exploration of human trafficking from the local, state and national perspective is reviewed as well as what is being done to combat this issue.

Learning Outcomes: After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:  Identify what human trafficking is, and what it is not; Define terms used in human trafficking; Discuss human trafficking in our state, and what is being done to combat the problem.

Instructional Method: Asynchronous online PPT Lecture/Pre-test/Post Test and evaluation.

Credit Statements:

Licensed Nurses:  Upstate AHEC is an accredited provider of Nursing Professional Development by the American Nurses Credentialing Centers Commission on Accreditation. Upon successful completion of this program, participants will receive 1.5 contact hour.

Respiratory Care Practitioners: 1.5 clock hour will be awarded by Upstate AHEC, an approved provider of continuing education for respiratory care practitioners by the SC Board of Medical Examiners.

Social Workers: This program has been approved for 1.5 clock hour of non-social work continuing education by Upstate AHEC, as part of the SC AHEC system, under its accreditation by the SC Board of Social Work Examiners.

Counselors and Therapists: This program has been approved for 1.5 hour of continuing education by SC AHEC under its accreditation by the SC Board of Examiners for Licensure of Professional Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists and Psycho-Educational Specialists.

Massage Therapists: This program has been approved for 1.8hours of continuing education by the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation for Massage Therapy. SC State Provider Number is 2.0

AHEC Credit: This educational offering provides 0.15 CEU (1.5 clock hour) by Upstate AHEC and meets SC AHEC Best Practice Standards.
