Course Description

This course will discuss fibromyalgia and chronic pain syndrome and various treatment modalities.

Instructor

Hima Dalal, OTR/L, Reiki Master, Fibromyalgia Specialist, Energy Medicine Practitioner is President of Vital Energy Therapy. She is a board certified Occupational Therapist with 35 years experience in outpatient and hospital therapy.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define fibromyalgia and chronic pain syndrome.
  2. Explain the diagnosis and symptoms.
  3. List the aggravating factors.
  4. Discuss therapy interventions that help reduce pain, fatigue, hypersensitivity, and stress intolerance.
  5. Identify how patients can take charge of their health.
  6. Discuss how to progress the patient and transition the patient to increase strength, ROM and muscle strength/flexibility without increasing pain and ultimately making them pain free.
